Principal - Monica Singe
Monica is a Director and Principal of SMS LTD located in North Auckland where she currently carries out the role of Technical Manager.
Her qualifications include Bachelor of Science (Zoology) and the Graduate Diploma's in Environmental Health Science and Drinking Water Assessment. She also holds Certificates in Clinical Biochemistry (QTA), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points and Food Safety Auditing.
Monica is the Technical Manager responsible for technical delivery and development of technical services and aspects of SMS and NZB. This has included National Saltmarsh Mosquito surveillance development, training and quality, including the development and preparation of surveillance systems guidelines, reports, standard operating procedures, environmental data, analysis programmes, discussion papers and media and landowner updates. She was responsible for the development of the risk based programme schedules, including statistical measures, and environmental monitoring requirements.
She is involved in the development of treatment methodology for midge control in waste water treatment oxidation ponds in several locations, and oversees the Company's effluent pond treatment programmes and reporting requirements in this respect, including reviewing midge control programmes and aspects of control product selection. Monica monitors surveillance results, providing an auditing and reporting function for the Royal New Zealand Navy port mosquito surveillance programme.
Having worked in Local and Central Government and the private sector, Monica was involved in public and environmental health services for more than 20 years. Monica represented the MoH on the working party tasked to review the draft National Biosecurity Strategy in 2003, and was a member of the SSM Intelligence Projects with MAF BNZ.
